Afghanistan have proven the shock of the Cricket World Cup after backing up their win over England by defeating Pakistan.
Jos Buttler's defending champions are on the brink of a group-stage exit but they are not the only team being stunned in India, where South Africa bounced back from defeat to the Netherlands by hammering New Zealand on Wednesday.
This year’s 50-over tournament will once again see an opening-round group stage featuring all 10 teams playing each other in a round-robin format before the top four graduate through to the knockouts.
The semi-finals will take place in mid-November before a final at the huge 132,000-seater Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. After a frankly dismal performance in qualifying, two-time champions West Indies will miss the World Cup for the first time.
